First 50 Spectranext devices are now in production
Alpha testing has been going well so far, so the first batch of 50 devices is now in production

This is the first proper production batch. Up to this point, the focus has been on getting the hardware stable, validating the cartridge across machines (48k, 128k, +2/+3), and making sure the software stack is useful in practice. The alpha test trials have been successful so far, which is what made it reasonable to move ahead with a real run instead of just another handful of prototypes.
What works

- Full Spectranet compatibility
- Wi-Fi setup, scanning and connection
- DNS lookups and HTTPS access
- Engine calls for processing larger web data on the cartridge side
- RAM-based filesystem for temporary files
- Available SDK
- Tested on a selection of real machines, including 48K, 128K, +2 and +3
What is in this first package
The first batch will contain just the cartridge, but a separate companion multiplayer game is in the making and will be available digitally free of charge.
There will be a separate article about the game once it is ready to be shown properly.
Here is a sneak peek:
You don't have to wait
Emulator that supports Spectranext is already available. Note, when you install it, Spectranext must be enabled from Settings.
What happens next
I genuinely do not know yet what the demand for this is going to look like. The first production batch is small — mainly because I want to validate that there is real interest before pushing the project further.
If the batch sells through, that is a strong signal that I should continue development, improve the tooling, build more software around it.
So if you find the project interesting, sharing it with other communities, developers, or potential reviewers genuinely helps a lot at this stage.
When the first batch is ready, they will be available through the site and through selected distributors.
If you want to know when that happens, please subscribe. That is the best way to catch the announcement as soon as ordering goes live.
